X-IM Help Chat Security Info When you initiate or accept an invitation to a chat session, you create a session key for all your outgoing communications, and separately encrypt it for each member of the chat group. In turn you receive a session key encrypted for you from each member of the chat group for decoding their communications. Therefore, it is only possible for the members of the chat group to decode any of the messages being transmitted. All messages throughout the program are signed and protected by hash function as well as encrypted, which ensures that the message came from the contact that it claims to come from, and was not altered. NOTE: All chat messages are encrypted without exception. NOTE: When a contact disconnects from the chat, he can no longer access any subsequent chat messages; nevertheless, such messages should not be considered cryptologically secured from that contact. |
