Instant Message (IM)

This window will appear whenever you receive or select to send an Instant Message. One window will appear for each contact you are messaging. If you are reading a message from a particular contact and that contact sends a second message, both messages will appear in the upper box of this window. If you close this window, it will be reopened when a new message from this contact arrives.

To send a message, enter text in the lower box and click either "Send" or "Send & Close". Before you start typing any message, the only available option is "Close." If you have started typing a message and the "Send" and "Send & Close" buttons remain disabled this indicates that you are not connected to the X-IM Server. This usually indicates that there is no Internet connection. Both buttons will be enabled as soon as the connection is restored.

To maximize efficient use of this window, type your message and then press [Tab] [Enter] to send, or [Tab] [Tab] [Enter] to send and close.

After you type text in the box, you can select a portion of it and click the "B" button (or press Ctrl-B on the keyboard) to make the selection bold, or click the "I" button (or press Ctrl-I) to italicize it.
